What is coconut ?

The coconut tree (Cocos nucifera) is a member of the palm tree family  (Arecaceae) and the only living species of the genus Cocos. It is one of the most useful trees in the world and is called the “tree of life”. Coconut provides fives types of food products: coconut water, coconut milk, sugar, oil and meat.

It is native of Malesia, a bio-geographical region that includes Southeast Asia, Indonesia, Australia, New Guinea, and several Pacific Island groups.The coconut is one of nature’s wonders.In India, coconut occupies a special and a higher place among the many articles used in religious offerings to Almighty God.The coconut has cultural and religious significance in certain societies, particularly in India, where it is used in Hindu rituals.
